Monday, 16 February 2026

The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, in partnership with the Municipal Health Directorate and the Prestea-Huni Valley Municipal Assembly, joined the global community to commemorate International Childhood Cancer Day at Menhuntem.

Held under the theme “Demonstrating Impact: From Challenge to Change,” the event brought together community members to raise awareness on childhood cancer. Participants were educated on the early warning signs, preventive measures and available treatment options for the deadly disease. They were also empowered with knowledge to support early detection and timely medical care.

Beyond creating awareness, the Foundation also facilitated the renewal and registration of over 300 community members onto the National Health Insurance Scheme, ensuring access to essential healthcare services.

This initiative adds to the Foundation’s health initiative, which includes quarterly medical outreach and the adolescent sexual and reproductive health development programme.

To date, the Foundation has invested more than US$4.8 million in health initiatives, underscoring its commitment to expanding healthcare access and enhancing community wellbeing.
