Boosting Mobility and Safety in Tarkwa-Nsuaem

Thursday, 17 July 2025

The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation officially commissioned the construction of a 2.11-kilometre road linking Budo City Junction to the Bogoso Junction Road in July —marking another milestone in its commitment to infrastructure development in host communities.

With an investment of GHS11.6 million, the project is set to improve mobility and safety, as well as stimulate economic activity in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality. The sod-cutting ceremony drew notable dignitaries, including Hon. Issah Salifu Taylor, Member of Parliament for Tarkwa-Nsuaem, Hon. Ebenezer Cobbinah, Municipal Chief Executive, Nana Kwaku Baah II, Chief of New Atuabo and officials from the Municipal Assembly.

Speaking at the event, Nana Kwaku Baah II commended the Foundation for addressing the long-standing poor road conditions that have hindered development in the area. Both the MP and MCE expressed their appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a vital intervention that will reduce travel time, enhance road safety and unlock new economic opportunities. They pledged their full support to ensure the project’s smooth and timely completion.

The road is being constructed by Woodbine Ventures, a Ghanaian-owned company with an entirely local workforce—underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to promoting local content and empowering indigenous businesses.

This latest investment adds to the Foundation’s impressive infrastructure portfolio, which includes the 33km Tarkwa-Damang road and the Nana Angu bypass. To date, the Foundation has invested approximately US$71.4 million in infrastructure projects that continue to improve lives and drive sustainable development.
