Investing in Dreams: A New Classroom Block for Bompieso M/A Basic School

Wednesday, 30 July 2025

Education is the foundation of success and that is why the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation is committed to investing in the dreams of young people in our host communities.

The Foundation officially handed over a newly constructed three-unit classroom block to Bompieso M/A Basic School in July, valued at nearly GHS 760,000.

The classroom block was awarded as a prize following a competition among schools in the host communities, where Bompieso M/A emerged as the winner. The facility, which accommodates at least 120 pupils, also includes a staff common room and a headteacher's office, creating a more conducive learning environment for both students and educators.

During the handover ceremony, Frank Kofi Dankyi, the then Acting Operations Manager of the Damang mine, reaffirmed the Foundation's deep-rooted belief in education as a driver of sustainable development. He also shared the inspiring story of a past scholarship beneficiary who now works as a Field Service Engineer with Sandvik Mining and Rock Processing, a powerful example of how investing in human capital can transform lives and communities.

Community leaders and education stakeholders expressed heartfelt appreciation for the Foundation's continued support, praising its role in improving access to quality education. They encouraged pupils to study hard and make the most of the opportunities available to them.

Since its inception, the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has invested over US$72.4 million in infrastructure and US$10.4 million in education, reaffirming its commitment to building empowered communities through education.
