More people are getting unfettered access to potable water as the Foundation expands its water and sanitation (WATSAN) programme in the host communities.
A newly installed 40,000-litre capacity water facility at Badukrom will serve over 1,000 residents and help address water challenges faced by the community. The Foundation handed over the small-town water supply system to the community earlier in June 2025.
The project was implemented in collaboration with the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Assembly and the Water and Sanitation Committee of Badukrom to ensure community ownership and sustainability.
This is the second of seven water projects to be undertaken this year. In line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 and its commitment to enhance access to safe drinking water in the host communities, the Foundation has invested over US$2.5 million in various water and sanitation projects and programmes. These include about 153 small-town water supply systems, pump-fitted boreholes and hand-dug wells.
